When people from Modena, my home town, hear “Florida”, they immediately think I am getting at least twice the amount of sunlight they do. Is that true? Not so much.
Thanks to the U.S. Naval Observatory’s Data Services (link) I collected the sunrise and sunset times for both Jacksonville and Modena for the year 2013.
[caveat : twilight was not taken into account, daylight saving time neither and cloudiness is out of the scope of this exercise]
All in all, Modena will receive 4,471 hours and 37 minutes of sunlight. Jacksonville “only” 4,451 hours and 43 minutes. That is equivalent to almost one full day!Jacksonville “wins” in terms of consistency. Days are not as short during Winter neither as long during Summer. But Modena’s looong Summer days are missed.
